400,000 Voices for 400,000 Lives Campaign

Since the deadly conflict began in Darfur, nearly four years ago, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, even more brutalized, and millions displaced and at risk. Although no one can give a clear accounting of the number of deaths, the best estimates are that at least 400,000 people have been killed. However many have died, we are using this number to represent all those killed and all the other victims of the genocide in Darfur.

In memory of these 400,000, and in hopes that the genocide can come to an end, our campaign aims for 400,000 people to complain to Fidelity.

We are asking that people join us by the thousands and tens of thousand, to take an action that is well within their power, to complain to Fidelity about their involvement in Sudan, to tell Fidelity that we don't want them to continue to help fund the genocide in Darfur.

Please join us in taking
action for responsible investment and be one of the "400,000 Voices for 400,000 Lives" for Darfur. Go to FidelityOutofSudan.com, sign the petition, and object to Fidelity investing in companies that help to fund the genocide in Darfur.

Tell us what you think of this campaign to get Fidelity out of Sudan.

Count me as one of the 400,000 Voices. I do not believe that American investors want "blood on their hands." Shame on Fidelity!

Shame on Fidelity for putting money above human suffering - in a way their cold behavior is even worse than that of the massacring Janjaweed!

So let's pounce on Fidelity, why not? They are an easy target who I'm sure has a corporate objective to support the situation in Darfur. Wake up! This type of propaganda attacks good American companies. You fail to point out that over 202 financial institutions invest in this stock for their shareowners. Including, Merrill Lynch, Berkshire Hathaway, Credit Suisse, Allianz Global Investors, etc.. Sure, Fidelity may be the largest holder, but they are the only one called out. In closing, most who read the headline will walk away being misled about what Fidelity is all about. I'm a proud investor with Fidelity and support them 100%. Infact, I may increase my holdings and buy some PetroChina in my Brokerage account.

We agree that it is unfortunate that other companies are also investing in PetroChina and China Petroleum. To call attention to these companies, we dedicated an entire page of the web site to "Major Investors in PTR and SNP" and listed other large investors.

We chose to campaign against Fidelity because it is the largest investor in PetroChina on the NYSE. We hope that others will follow their lead, should they choose to divest. We were also Fidelity customers and took their position personally because they were investing our money.

This public campaign was not precipitous and only follows months of private attempts to engage Fidelity and its management. All we received for our effort was a form letter stating, “Fidelity portfolio managers make their investment decisions based on business and financial considerations, and take into account other issues only if they materially impact these considerations or conflict with applicable legal standards."

It was only after this private effort to engage Fidelity failed that we proceeded to publicly promote the issue.

We've done our best to fairly present Fidelity. We've included the one communication from them that we could obtain on the issue and included a number of unbiased press reports that present their perspective. They told the Wall Street Journal "The resolution of complex social and political issues must be left to the appropriate authorities of the world that have the responsibility, and capability, to address important matters of this type". Further, Fidelity has a history of not responding to major social issues, such as the Talisman Energy divestment.

If this is what Fidelity is "about" we strongly object and think its investors have the right to know the facts..

AFTER READING MIA FARROW'S COMMENTARY ON FIDELITY'S INVESTING IN THE SUDAN MASSACRING MY WIFE AND I BECAME PHYSICALLY SICK.

THERE MUST BE BETTER PLACES TO BE INVESTING OUR SAVINGS THAT WOULD BE MORE HUMANE THAN PETROCHINA.

HAVE YOU NO SENSE OF SHAME?
